Experience and Background

James Simpson, Ed.D., is a Mental Health Counselor who specializes in Parents and Children of Divorce, Custody Home Studies and Mediation.

He originally started working in the helping profession in 1967. He has worked for mental health centers in Colorado, Iowa and South Dakota for 25 years, and has also been an adjunct teacher at several colleges and universities. He has been in private practice since 1992. He completed his first home study in 1975, and has devoted his time and efforts toward this population since 1996.

He is a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor recognized by the National Academy of Certified Clinical Health Counselors, a Qualified Mental Health Professional, and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of South Dakota. He is also a Registered Custody Evaluator and Mediator.

James, along with other colleagues from Dad N' Daughter Creations, LLP, developed What's Going to Happen to Me?, a children's book designed to help them understand and deal with their parents' divorce. He has been a presenter at several workshops and conferences regarding children and homes ruptured by divorce.
