Counseling, Consultation, Mediation & Parenting Coordination

Counseling

During Individual and Family Counseling, individuals are seen for a variety of concerns; however the focus of this practice is about helping children and parents cope and deal effectively with changes when their family is restructured, particularly after a divorce.

We see children and their parents, individually or together; the mother and the child, the father and the child, or siblings as a group.

Dr. Simpson's approach is to use a cognitive therapy style bolstered by some education related to grief, loss, change, and restructuring our lives after a crisis.

Fees for Counseling are $100 per hour and we do accept insurance where applicable.

Consultation

Consultation on custody matters is offered to individuals, parents, attorneys and other interested parties.

Consultation and testimony in court are billed at $125 per hour.

Mediation

Mediation is another way to resolve disputes where both parties are actively involved in creating a solution. Individuals can use this service to develop a parenting agreement, child visitation schedule, or resolve differences that might arise in their parenting plan.

Fees for Mediation are $100 per hour and we do accept insurance where applicable.

Parenting Coordination

Working as a Parent Coordinator is another significant and related follow-up service provided after changes in family settings occur. The role of a Parenting Coordinator may vary within each family setting and includes facilitating improved communication and positive interaction, encouraging lower conflict exchanges, and staying attentive to the needs of children until the families of concern seem able to function more effectively.
