Dr. Simpson’s practice is called Individual and Family Counseling. People are seen for a variety of issues, but the focus of this practice is on helping children and parents cope and deal effectively with the rupture of their family.

We see children and the parents, as individuals or we may meet with the parties together; the mother and the child, the father and the child, or siblings as a group.

Dr. Simpson’s approach is to use a cognitive therapy style bolstered by some education related to grief, loss, change and restructuring our lives after a crisis. Consultation on custody matters is offered to individuals, parents, attorneys and others interested parties.

Working as a Parenting Coordinator is another service provided by Dr. Simpson. This is when both parties hire me to help them resolve a conflict in a manner that will be beneficial to their children. A complete description of what this service is and a sample agreement can be found on page 168 of Carla Garrety and Mitchell Barise’s book, Caught in the Middle, Protecting The Children Of High-Conflict Divorces; Jossey-BASS Publishers, San Francisco © 1994; John Wily & Sons, Inc.

Mediation: In addition to doing custody/home studies, Dr. Simpson is a mediator. This is another way to resolve disputes where both parties are actively involved in creating a solution. People can use this service to develop a parenting agreement, visitation/parenting time schedule or resolve differences that might arise in their parenting plan.

Fees for Counseling and mediation are $100 per hour and we do accept insurance where applicable. Consultation and testimony in court are billed at $125 per hour.
